With a heavy heart, we announce the passing of Koichi Ohno, our esteemed Chief Director Emeritus, on October 31, 2022. We wish to honor his remarkable contributions to the founding and expansion of our institute (IQCE), and we offer our most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. Koichi Ohno served as a professor in the theoretical chemistry course at Tohoku University, Graduate School of Science, and earned the title of Professor Emeritus upon his retirement. During his career, Koichi Ohno published 280 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and 28 reviews in the field of Physical Chemistry. His notable achievements include the development of the GRRM (Global Reaction Route Mapping) program, which utilizes the SHS (Scaled Hypersphere Search) algorithm for automated exploration of chemical reaction pathways. In the spirit of his vision and dedication, the IQCE was founded to disseminate the GRRM program and facilitate research grants and exchanges, nurturing future generations of researchers. His forward-thinking leadership will serve as a perpetual source of inspiration as we continue our journey into the realm of quantum chemistry exploration. We deeply apologize for the delay in conveying this solemn news to you. We have been coping with the profound loss of our beloved leader. As we traverse this challenging period, we are profoundly thankful for the unwavering support you have extended to us. Your steadfast dedication ignites our resolve to honor Koichi Ohno's legacy and push the boundaries of quantum chemistry research ever forward. In his memory, we come together to pay tribute to his enduring legacy and forge ahead, with an unwavering commitment to the pursuit of scientific excellence. With profound gratitude, The Board of Directors NPO Institute for Quantum Chemistry Exploration
